Scott Winner confirmed as CEO of Ingenta

Ingenta, a leading provider of solutions to simplify, manage, promote and deliver publishers’ business, has announced the permanent appointment of Scott Winner to the position of CEO.

Scott Winner, who has been acting CEO since May 2018, and who was previously COO at the company, replaces David Montgomery.

Winner joined Ingenta in 2015 and as COO he was responsible for transforming how Ingenta both creates and delivers new products and innovations to customers.

Scott brings over 25 years of broad experience in driving organizations’ technology solutions and product offerings across a variety of different industries, including educational publishing, manufacturing and financial services. He adds value by driving strategy and partnering with clients, delivering technology with professional services to help them unlock their potential.  Scott has held roles at Pearson Education, Amplify Learning, McGraw-Hill and the Fireman’s Fund insurance company.

In his short tenure as acting CEO, Winner has spearheaded the strategy for the forthcoming launch of Ingenta Aperture, shifting the organization’s focus towards key Products and Services, while increasing engagement with Ingenta’s partners and stakeholders.

LM Information Delivery appoints Caroline Currie as Country Manager for UK & Ireland

Jay Flynn Named Chief Product Officer for Wiley Research

John Wiley & Sons, Inc., a global research and education company, today announced that Jay Flynn will take on the new role of Chief Product Officer for Wiley’s Research business. In addition to his current duties leading the Research publishing group, Mr. Flynn will now be responsible for Wiley’s society portfolio, as well as digital product strategy for the business. Jay will drive innovation and be evaluating the larger Research strategic roadmap to ensure Wiley meets the evolving needs of our market.

Mr. Flynn began his online publishing career in the mid-1990s at Elsevier Engineering Information, where he worked on database products for the German-speaking market. He later transitioned to New York to work on the launch of Elsevier’s Science Direct and has held senior roles at Wolters Kluwer Health and Cengage Learning. Jay has been at Wiley since 2010, serving most recently as Senior Vice President and Managing Director of Research Publishing.

Andy Douglas returns to Springer Nature as VP Commercial for Nature Research

Following four years at Wolters Kluwer as VP Sales EMEA, Andy Douglas is rejoining Springer Nature as VP Commercial for Nature Research, the brand which includes Nature, the leading international weekly journal of science.

Bringing together a wide range of services, Andy will oversee sales and marketing for all of Nature Research’s Client Marketing Services – advertising, career services, sponsorship, custom publishing and conferences – as well as for the company’s researcher services, such as Nature Masterclasses and Naturejobs.

CABI welcomes Dr Andrew Robinson as new Managing Director, Publishing

CABI welcomes Dr Andrew Robinson as its new Managing Director, Publishing to lead and drive its Publishing and Knowledge Management activities and products. These include the world-renowned CAB Abstracts and Global Health as well as compendiabookseBooksfull text resources and important open access resources such as the Plantwise Knowledge Bank and Invasive Species Compendium.

Andy comes to CABI after serving as Senior Vice President and Managing Director, Society Services, Research, at Wiley, the academic publisher, where he enjoyed a 25-year career. Most recently he led a global team that provided publishing services to more than 500 societies, associations and not-for-profit organisations. His team covered a full range of subjects from agriculture to zoology, offering journal, magazine, e-learning, web publishing and career services as well as publishing the Cochrane Library – the world’s leading database of evidence-based medicine.

Andy has a first-class degree in botany from University College London (UCL) and a PhD in plant biochemistry, focusing on the regulation of glycolysis in potatoes, from the University of Cambridge.

Talking about his new role, Andy said, “I’m really excited to join CABI. It’s an organisation with an incredible breadth and range of products and projects. It spans everything from conducting research, to publishing research, and then, making a difference by applying research in the field.
