Salary: £38,000 – £42,000 Basic + Benefits
Our client, a leading society publisher, requires a new Editorial Operations Manager, who will be responsible for the performance of editors, Editorial Operations staff, reviewers and authors to ensure high-quality peer review, fast turnaround times, satisfied customers and consistent article output growth.
You will monitor competitor journal performance, incorporating good practice into our own operations and making sure that our performance compares well and nurturing a culture of continuous improvement with journal editors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Actively manage all journals published based on agreed KPIs, and monitor competitors for new developments
- Target potential new authors and develop effective strategies for converting them to repeat authors in our journals
- Use data from the Health Dashboard and other sources to continuously review and improve our service to authors and reviewers, sharing key insights with the wider team
- Line management of the Editorial Operations Assistant
- Identify new topics for coverage and recruit Editors appropriately
- Commission Special Issues, from Conferences and other sources
- Management of Editors for all journals: investigating problems, mentoring, advising, sharing data, removing if needed in a timely fashion
- Streamline workflows for optimal performance on an ongoing basis
- Attend Editorial Board Meetings and Specialist Group meetings as required
- Resolve complaints and ethical problems which arise swiftly, fairly and correctly
- Liaise with the Sales and Marketing Team to assist in promoting the journals at key events
Skills & Experience:
- Experience working for an STM/Society Publisher
- Working in a physical and remote office environment
