Our client, a global open-access publisher, requires a new Marketing Director who will provide strategic leadership for a complex, creative, boldly-branded digital marketing program that supports the journal portfolio and overall revenue and mission goals.
We need an expert in Digital Marketing with a deep understanding of academic audiences and market dynamics. You value data and audience insights and ground your programs based on benchmarking, in-depth competitor analysis and market insight.
You have a strong creative vision, understand marketing technology, brand strategy, and are energised by the ongoing optimisation of marketing programs and channels. You are a leader, a partner, and a highly-skilled collaborator with deep experience working with your team and cross-functionally with senior leaders to align marketing strategy to business objectives. You'll need to be curious and eager to innovate, test, fail, learn, and iterate.
As part of the company's Leadership Team, you will bring mature skills to the leadership of your team (12 people) and the organisation. You value and put priority on the growth and development of your peer-to-peer relationships alongside mentorship of people managers and individuals with your function.
We need a resilient leader, skilled at leading and managing in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.
Skills & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree or relevant combination of education and experience; graduate degree preferred
- Deep experience in marketing, with demonstrated success building high impact marketing programs
- Experience marketing academic and scientific journals, including Open Access products
- Deep understanding of digital platforms, user experience, and marketing technology
- Experience working with marketing analytics, deriving useful insights and applying findings to optimise performance
- Demonstrated track record of marrying deep analytic thinking with creativity
- Strong understanding of customer and market dynamics and requirements
