Marketing Operations Manager

Our client, a scientific publisher based in London, requires a new Marketing Operations Manager.

You will deliver marketing campaigns to achieve agreed success metrics. Maintaining content on website and Silverchair platform. Supporting the team and helping realise the team’s goals, as well as being an ambassador for the business, with external stakeholders including Association staff, Editors, authors, librarians, peers in other publishers and suppliers

Key Responsibilities:  

  • Driving usage of journal articles, to raise impact and maximise renewals
  • Conducting campaigns to increase uptake and usage of paid Open Access articles, and utilising analytics to continuously improve performance
  • Line management of the Sales & Marketing Operations Assistant
  • Maintaining content on website and third party web platform (Silverchair), and ensuring high levels of site traffic and return visits by analysing user behaviour on the sites
  • Owning relationship with Silverchair and ensuring harmonious collaboration
  • Publicising books portfolio and generating sales
  • Curating accurate and timely metadata feeds on books portfolio (ONIX)
  • Supporting Marketing goals where this fits in with Publishing activities
  • Raising awareness of key Publishing initiatives through press releases and similar
  • Delivering agreed objectives within budget
  • Managing own learning needs, taking responsibility to identify and develop skill gaps

Skills & Experience 

  • Marketing techniques, systems and technologies
  • Developments in Open Access publishing and systems
  • Analytics work to accurately measure and understand results of activities, with continuous revision and improvement based on these findings
  • Journal and book publishing
  • Workload and time management of own activities
  • Industry and market awareness
