Senior Marketing Manager, Books

Our client, a global academic publisher, requires a new Senior Marketing Manager, Books. This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and experienced marketing professional to lead their Channel and Community activities in a team responsible for managing their book marketing plans and author/trade liaison.

We need an experienced academic book marketer who thinks commercially and strategically about your audiences. The position reports directly to the Marketing Director.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead channel marketing strategy and support activities for Amazon and other online retailers to influence sales via individuals and trade channels/intermediaries
  • Deliver impactful, measured marketing campaigns that contribute to meeting annual subject area and direct product sales, and drive author engagement
  • Develop and deliver monthly reporting on KPI measurement, results, and performance
  • Prioritise areas from the books program that can benefit from cluster/specialism marketing initiatives
  • Integrate author marketing and author service offerings into wider digital marketing and customer engagement to improve the author journey
  • Support freelancers managing the professional lists
  • Oversee critical society and partnership relations and identify commercial opportunities
  • Develop strategies for gathering and improving data, including product portfolio insights, current trends, and competitors

Skills & Experience:

  • Significant experience (5+ years) of delivering successful marketing campaigns within scholarly publishing
  • Commercial understanding to prioritise activities across different products and subjects spanning other markets and channels
  • Commercial awareness and analytical skills
  • The ability to lead/manage freelancers and a small team
  • Experience in working with internal and external stakeholders, including authors, editors, freelancers, and digital agencies
  • Significant experience planning, implementing and measuring marketing campaigns using the latest digital marketing tactics
  • Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision
