The Content Director will have ultimate responsibility for all content under the client's hospital division. You will oversee a global network of contributors that help form the core products on the platform. 

Overall Accountability:

  • Ensures core content and medico-legal products are reviewed regularly by appropriate experts
  • Provides direct editorial control over content
  • Extend core content range to maximise revenue
  • Contribute to digital product development in support of the company's mission
  • Contribute to the relationships with third party technology partners
  • Identify and implement positive change and challenge within the organisation, whilst contributing to the wider sector
  • Manages and develops the team, building a high performing team that operates transparently and in line with the core values.
  • Builds and maintains effective partnerships and communications with stakeholders
  • Supports the Senior Management and leadership team to maximise sales opportunities

Skills & Experience:

  • Experience in medical writing or scientific publishing

Editorial Lead

Our client, a leading Medical Education agency is looking to recruit a new Editorial Lead.

The position is an exciting and varied role involving both creativity and strong editorial experience to provide innovative solutions for global clients.

In conjunction with internal teams you will be responsible for the development of appealing proposals alongside delivery of high-quality, engaging content.

The Editorial Director will be the main editorial/scientific point of contact for all parties and will foster and maintain relationships with therapy area experts, professional societies, 3rd-party vendors, freelancers and internal stakeholders to ensure seamless delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage all editorial aspects of scientific content delivery to clients meeting the agreed brief, internal quality standards and set timelines
  • Alongside the Project Management and global Sales teams take clear and agreed briefs from clients including content, formats, deadlines, authors and stakeholders
  • Maintain and grow a database of trusted freelancers to contract for the work
  • Provide clear briefs to freelancers, review draft content according to client needs, internal quality standards and agreed specifications, budgets and timeframes
  • Monitor quality, style and accuracy of reviewed content and provide timely, consistent and constructive feedback
  • Act as Lead Writer (if required) on accounts
  • Be the main point of contact on matters of scientific content for clients, Experts and internal stakeholders
  • Participate fully in briefing and brainstorming sessions
  • Provide scientific expertise in the development of new business pitches and proposals
  • Attend client meetings and pitches as the scientific representative
  • Line management responsibilities Members of the Editorial team (when required)
  • Travel requirements International and national travel as requested

Skills/Experience: 

  • A biomedical degree (or extensive equivalent experience)
  • Strong writing experience in a communications agency, pharmaceutical industry or related healthcare industries
  • Comprehensive reviewing experience
  • Management of freelancers including briefing and communication
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and time management skills
  • Proactive, resourceful and a good team player
  • Ability to create good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience of providing editorial hours for a variety of products and services
  • A higher degree in a biomedical discipline

Research Communications Manager, China

Our client, a global scientific publisher, requires a new Research Communications Manager, China who will manage a programme of author outreach to boost the profile and brand awareness of the company and their products.

As the job holder, you will use marketing and communication techniques in innovative and effective ways to improve awareness and engagement with our audiences in the region.

You will lead on both the marketing strategy and implementing activities to support the aims of the region. You will be confident in liaising with key stakeholders and providing reports and feedback on activities, bringing a focus on growing our customer database and contributing insight into successful marketing tactics and our competition in the market.

 key part of the role will require great collaboration skills, working closely with colleagues in Publishing, Marketing and Sales in China and in our offices globally. You will have an enthusiasm for meeting researchers and engaging with our authors.

The role will require travel throughout China and occasionally internationally.

Skills Experience:

  • Degree in the physical sciences essential. Higher degree (MSc or PhD) is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of the academic/research environment in China and worldwide
  • A working knowledge of scientific publishing is desirable
  • Demonstrate solid knowledge and experience of marketing as well as working knowledge of a variety of marketing channels.
  • Ability to obtain and analyse market research and insights to create a clear and practical marketing implementation approach gaining buy-in from a wide range of colleagues.
  • Excellent communication and negotiating skills and the ability to make appropriate decisions and take prompt and effective action, if necessary, under pressure of time and circumstances, are essential
  • Must possess strong English and Mandarin communications (verbal and written) skills, including public speaking skills
  • Demonstrate strategic planning ability as well as organisational, planning and time-management skills
