Sr Director of Marketing Communications

We are searching for a new Senior Director, Marketing Communications for a global information business. You will be responsible for contributing to a world-class culture, while providing leadership and coaching to a small team that is responsible for strategic planning and the tactical delivery of integrated programs, campaigns, and playbooks. With the goal of engaging B2B customers, prospects, partners, as well as other types of external stakeholders in meaningful interactions, these activities will span new and existing licensing solutions, software, services, and programs.

You will focus on educating our various markets to create market demand, brand preference, and new sales pipeline opportunities. Effective collaboration will be critical to you and the team’s success, both with other functions within the department and with other functions across the organisation such as product marketing, sales, client engagement, and support.

You will also implement frameworks to inform prioritisation and reprioritisation recommendations related to market opportunities, and to support effective content ideation, development, and dissemination across a diverse number of ideal customer profiles.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build a positive team culture that values process and performance.
  • Hire, train, support, develop, and coach team members.
  • Collaborate closely with the VP of Marketing and cross-functional teams to align and map marketing initiatives with business objectives.
  • Partner closely with senior-level team members across other departments to ensure an integrated go-to-market approach.
  • Lead teams in setting goals, planning, developing, and delivering integrated strategic marketing communications plans to generate, capture, and convert demand across multiple channels.
  • Oversee the creation of compelling content, including white papers, case studies, blog posts, and website copy to showcase our solutions and thought leadership.
  • Analyse key performance data metrics and market trends to optimise marketing strategies and maximize impact.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and best practices, continuously seeking opportunities for innovation and growth.

Skills & Experience:

  • 10+ years of experience in combined marketing communications and/or product management experience with a strong focus on software solutions and services.
  • 5+ years of experience in managing marketing teams and budgets.
  • Prior leadership experience is required for this role.
  • Proven track record of successfully developing and executing integrated marketing campaigns that drive measurable results.
  • Expertise in understanding B2B buyers, buyer’s journeys, and information needs and how to map marketing communications to meet those needs, while breaking through crowded markets.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and mentor a team of marketing professionals.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and levels of the organisation.
  • Degree in Marketing, Communications, or Business or equivalent experience.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office and marketing software, including automation platforms like Pardot or HubSpot.
  • Experience with organisations that collaborate or market to STM publishers and R&D-driven organisations is a plus.
  • Willing to travel (10%)
